Pittsfield Balloon Festival 2009

Very soon after we arrived, these balloons started keeling over. Only the one in front continued to put on a "light show."

The fireworks haven't started yet and the band is still playing.

My empty chair is in the foreground. I had hoped that the couple at left would stay put and serve as a foreground for the fireworks, but they left.

The foreground is actually full of people but they're walking. The 30s exposure makes them mostly disappear, except that you can see white sneakers occasionally if they stopped for a while.

This is the thin section of the crowd near the exit. Next year we'll arrive earlier and penetrate into the thick section.
