Currier Museum of Art

A handful of CGM members gathered on a snowy Saturday morning to explore the remodeled Currier Museum of Art in Manchester. The date was December 20, 2008. During that month, if you arrived on Saturday around noontime admission was free. Photography is allowed at the museum everywhere except in the special temporary exhibit, which at that time was Andy Warhol. Unfortunately, the museum lost power during our visit and we had to depart before we were done.

  • This is a crop detail of one of the more realistic paintings. I think the reflection in the coffee maker is astonishing. Computers can render scenes like this but only after immense amounts of computing power are invested.

  • Nineteenth Century studio shoot. If you view this at original size, you can almost read the sign. It appears that the sculptor was also the photographer.

  • Here I'm looking up at the ceiling from the center of the museum. Only the emergency lights are on now and soon we'll be asked to return to the front of the museum. We lingered for a while and then left when it appeared that the power might be out for a while.
