Beccah and John were invited to a wedding in Connecticut and decided to enjoy an extended New England stay. Peter and I, Jonee and Wayne, and Mom and Dad joined them for the week before the wedding. They found a nice house for rent in Freeport, Maine and rented it for June 20-26. Unfortunately, it rained most of that week, but it was a very relaxing trip for all. Naturally we cooked our own lobster one night and dined once in Portland.

  • Peter and I arrived ahead of everyone and parked in Portland. This is early evening and it's a preview of the kind of weather we're going to have this week. This is Day 1 (June 20).

  • After dinner we proceeded to the house in Freeport. We arrived late so we had no idea how good the view is here. We were hopeful with so much glass along the far wall.

  • A little potted orange tree with a surprise on it. My mom's had an orange tree for as long as I can remember, and it's bigger than this, but it's never produced fruit, let alone this full-size beauty. It won't be ripe by the end of the trip so we leave it alone.

  • While visiting with friends in Vermont in May, we picked up some ice wine. This trip was a great time to finally break it open. Sadly, I've chopped Dad in half; I should have moved me to the right and turned the camera to the left.

  • Day 2 (June 21) began with looking out the windows at the view. This is the deck. Despite the weather that grill will get some good use.

  • The backyard and view of the bay. I really need to carry a little black velvet cloth to put around my wide angle lens when I'm shooting through glass.

  • Breakfast was at the Freeport Cafe, a very popular spot for good reason...good food. That's a "side" of bacon!

  • Peter doesn't quite know what to do with me. Unfortunately, I didn't pay any attention to how the cart looked in these shots. It should be half-filled with grocery-store things, not these inexplicable black hoses. Actually, those are the handles of the little hand-carry shopping cart with rhubarb sticking out.
