Understanding Exposure : I enrolled in the "Understanding Exposure" online class offered by the Perfect Picture School of Photography. The course ran for 8 weeks starting 9/21/2007. Each week, we were allowed to submit 3 photos for critique by Bryan F. Petersen, author of the book this course is named for. Another professional photographer, Chris Hurtt, ran the Q&A forum to answer the many questions posed by the 45 students. The course ended on 11/20; I submitted 25 photos in all.

The Art of Food : I had planned to take a break after UE-II but got an e-mail from Bryan Petersen announcing the "triumphant return of the Art of Food!" Loving this subject and knowing that all the shots would be taken indoors, I signed up while it is still very much winter here in NH. The class ran for 4 weeks starting 2/15/2008. Pro photographer Ron Goldman provided weekly critiques and pro photographer Kathleen Clemons ran the Q&A forum. There were 12 students in the class. The course ended on 3/16; I submitted 12 photos in all.

The Art of Seeing : This is the first of two classes I took to focus on the artistic aspects of photography: visualization and composition, in that order. This class started on 3/21/2008 and ran for 4 weeks. Although pro photographer Chris Hurtt received top billing for this course, his job was to monitor the Q&A forums and answer our questions. Bryan F. Petersen wrote the lessons and critiqued the photos. There were 24 students in the class. I submitted 14 photos in all.

The Art of Composition : This was the second of two "artistic photography" classes that I took in the spring of 2008. This class started on 4/25/2008 and ran for 8 weeks. Pro photographer Robert LaFollette was the only instructor listed; but John Jacobson, a very good photographer in his own right, monitored the Q&A forum. There were 11 students in the class, and I submitted 23 photos in all.

Understanding Closeup Photography : I wanted to deeply explore macro photography and jumped on this class when it was first offered. This class started on 3/6/2009 and ran for 4 weeks. Bryan Peterson was the author of this course (it's a companion course for an upcoming book) and was listed first, but he ran the Q&A board. Jon Canfield provided critiques. There were 25 students in the class, and I submitted 11 photos in all.
